Hong Kong’s Famous Duck Shing Ho Egg Rolls (德成號)

Recently I went on a trip to Hong Kong with my family and my mother requested to visit Duck Shing Ho to buy their egg rolls. Prior to this, I had never heard about Duck Shing Ho and went to check out their GMB Profile on Google maps where I saw many reviews raving about the egg rolls and how it sold out in the early morning. Many even recommended queuing from as early as 7am.

We made a visit to Duck Shing Ho in October 2024 and this was our experience and recommendations if you’re planning on making a visit.

We arrived at Duck Shing Ho at ~1235pm on a Saturday and there was no queue! The shop was still stacked with quite a lot of tins of egg rolls. While we were deciding what to get a few people entered the shop to purchase but it wasn’t enough to form a snaking long queue.

Perhaps we were lucky on our visit that it wasn’t sold out, and the crowd really wasn’t that bad. It was also the Golden Week holiday when we visited, but the crowd was still okay!

Many Google reviews mention being sold out or cut off at 930-10am. Not sure how regularly this happens, but with Hong Kong’s efficiency it is likely that the queue will move fast even if there is one!

My recommendation is to try your luck if you happen to be in the area 🙂

Order Limit

Each person is only allowed to purchase a maximum of 2 tins (400g) / 1 tin (800g) of egg rolls at Duck Shing Ho during our visit. They are quite strict with this. Although one of us was standing outside with our luggages (we came directly from the airport), they were insistent on seeing the number of people we had in the shop. Do keep this in mind if you’re planning to buy!

I’m not sure of the actual order limit as I’ve seen other people’s reviews saying 4x400g / 2x800g per person is the limit. Perhaps it changes depending on stock on the day but just keep in mind to bring more people if you want to buy more.

They produce a limited quantity each day, ensuring that each batch is fresh and high-quality.

With only a single outlet, this is the only place to try their delicious egg rolls. They even had a sign on their storefront highlighting how they do not sell their egg rolls online or on Facebook.

About Duck Shing Ho’s Egg Rolls

Duck Shing Ho’s egg rolls are known for being fresh, crispy and melt in your mouth. We only bought the original flavour.

The egg rolls are really huge with a nice eggy flavour. I’m glad we got to try it even though I’m not really a big fan of egg rolls! These egg rolls also make a really good gift for friends and family to share, as it appeals to the taste buds of both the young and old 😀

Visiting Duck Shing Ho (德成號)

Duck Shing Ho operates on Java Road, tucked among the hustle of North Point. Stepping into the shop felt like entering a time capsule—there’s an old-school charm that immediately tells you this place has been around for a while.

The place was relatively accessible with a short walk from North Point MTR Exit A2. We walked with all our luggages and it was still manageable in the heat.
